Data Residency Checker

Does Salesforce (Sales/Service Cloud, Einstein and Agentforce) keep data in Australia?

Some data can be kept in Australia. Core CRM data can be stored in Australia (Hyperforce, Sydney); some features, support and AI fallback or batch processing can run outside Australia.

What Salesforce says

ClaimStatusVendor's wordsSourceLast checked
Storage at restPartly
In general, customer data is stored in the country where their org is located, provided that the services the customer is using are available in that Hyperforce country.

Note: Hyperforce is listed as available on AWS in Australia, and the instance location article lists "[AUSx] - Australia - AWS - ap-southeast-2 - Asia Pacific (Sydney)". The same article says customer data may be stored outside the country "for support purposes and to run and operate the services". The Infrastructure and Sub-processors PDF lists some features hosted only in the United States (see exclusions).

Processing (incl. AI inference)Partly
Data can be transferred out of the country for processing, or because the customer implements an action that moves the data.

Note: Einstein/Agentforce has an Australian (Sydney) instance, and geo-aware routing sends LLM requests to the closest region. For an Australian org, GPT 4.1 and Claude Haiku 4.5 have Australian endpoints; Gemini 3.5 Flash routes to the United States. By default, failed requests "re-route the request to another region" (Large Language Model Support: "eventually re-route to a US region") unless "Enable In-Region Model Requests Only" is turned on, which fully disables fallback only for Anthropic and GPT models. Batch requests do not follow geo-aware routing. Several newer models are listed in US or non-AU regions only.

Support accessNot in Australia
Support services, including technical operations support

Note: This purpose row lists Salesforce entities in about 21 countries, including Australia, the United States, India, Ireland, Japan and Singapore. The Hyperforce Data Residency article also says customer data may be stored outside the country "for support purposes". No Australia-only support option is published.

Plan requiredPaid option
No. There is no additional cost associated with residing on the Hyperforce infrastructure.

Note: Hyperforce FAQ (article 000388902). The sub-processor PDF says the region is chosen during setup or with an Account Executive. Geo-aware LLM routing is listed for Enterprise, Performance and Unlimited Editions with an Einstein add-on. Hyperforce Operating Zone, which gives more control over data leaving the country, is described as "a paid offering" available only on AWS. Whether HF OZ is offered for Australian orgs is not published. Status is optional_paid because hosting core CRM data in Australia has no extra cost, but the AI features with Australian routing need a paid Einstein add-on.

ExclusionsPartly
Salesforce may store across its processing locations identifying information about Customers’ instance(s) and identifying information about Users for the purpose of operating the Services

Note: Other items listed in the PDF: Account Intelligence features (Account News, Lightning News, Account Logos, Account Autofill, Einstein Opportunity Scoring, Einstein Deal Insights) are hosted in the United States and are "on by default for all new Customers"; "Customers in Australia who use the Service Replies feature may also have data stored on Amazon Web Services infrastructure India"; generative AI failover is "temporarily re-routed" through US endpoints; some CDNs and the Bright Data web search provider are listed as Global. The Einstein Trust Layer page says prompts, responses and trust signals are logged and stored in Data 360. The Einstein locations article says some data is replicated into the Einstein Platform and Agentforce environment.
